Xeikon 4000
Intro
Digital colour printing was introduced in the marketplace more than a decade ago, when Xeikon led the way by launching the first web-fed digital colour press. Since then, the industry has made huge steps forward: presses run faster; quality has improved; consumables provide better print quality and cost less; and new, more sophisticated application software solutions appear every year. These and other developments offer unprecedented benefits such as quicker turnaround, increased cost effectiveness, greater flexibility and higher productivity.
If you have not yet stepped over to digital printing, Xeikon offers you a unique opportunity to do so. The Xeikon 4000 offers you all you need to enjoy the benefits of digital printing from the very first day: easy set-up and quick turnaround, great flexibility, top quality, countless personalisation possibilities, ... and all this with a digital printing press presented to you by Xeikon, a leading brand that has made its mark in the global graphics industry.
Quality
Handling paper widths of 500 mm, the Xeikon 4000 web-fed press offers a resolution of 600 dpi whereby every dot has variable density levels. Professional screen rulings from 85 lpi to 170 lpi produce pin-sharp images and faithfully match subtle tones that are comparable to traditionally printed documents. Rosette-based screenings ensure optimal results for each print job, and gloss levels can be adjusted to optimise image quality.
Xeikon’s unique One-Pass-Duplex™ technology, which prints on both sides of the sheet simultaneously, minimises total run time and produces perfect prints in a single pass. This proven technology eliminates reprocessing the substrate and ensures perfect front-to-back positioning and front-to-back data matching, the Xeikon 4000 sets a category benchmark for image quality consistency, reducing the number of rejected prints and thus increasing your productivity.

Productivity
The Xeikon 4000 surpasses the production possibilities of traditional offset printing, computer-to-press and computer-to-plate technologies. Its fast turnaround and powerful value-added applications will help you successfully meet the increased service requirements of your customers, today and in the future.
The Xeikon 4000 enables you to be highly competitive thanks to its low Total Cost of Printing for short to medium runs. With a hard-to-beat top speed of 130 pages per minute (7,800 pages per hour), the Xeikon 4000 allows professional production of on-demand and personalised print jobs. It has a user-friendly interface with advanced process controls that queue jobs electronically, allowing instant switching from one job to another. Multi-page documents can be printed in fully collated order. Even with a substrate as heavy as 250 gsm it operates at a rapid 100 ppm.
DFE
The Xeikon 4000 comes with the truly open, scalable and modular X-800 Digital Front-End (DFE). The X-800 DFE combines extensive pre-press functionalities including a fast RIP with impressive variable data processing and collation capabilities. In addition the X-800 is designed to deliver the highest print quality levels and to fluently process PostScript, PDF, PPML and PPML/VDX files at high speed. What is more, this DFE supports XML-based job tickets and is already set to support future JDF-based digital printing job tickets.

Flexibility
With its ability to handle a wide variety of substrates, the Xeikon 4000 opens up a range of value-added applications. Jobs can be easily printed on coated and non-coated stock varying between 40 and 250 gsm, polyester film, transfer material and label stock. A number of substrates from manufacturers all over the world have been qualified and are currently available. Thanks to its unique ability to handle large, professional formats of 500 mm wide with virtually no restriction on sheet length – the Xeikon 4000 is an extremely versatile digital colour press. It can comfortably print A2; typical formats in traditional offset printing. It will thus enable your customers to easily and cost-effectively put their innovative print ideas into practice. Typical applications include posters; displays; banners; product, company and promotional brochures; point-of-sale leaflets; all kinds of reports; personalised newsletters; handouts; test marketing books; technical manuals and so on.

Environment
The Xeikon 4000 requires no special environmental permits for its use. Its closed loop cooling system means no external water supply or waste water outlet is required. Moreover, no exceptional safety precautions have to be implemented, so the Xeikon 4000 allows you to be commercially productive in no time at all. Its environment-friendliness (e.g. no VOC emission) qualifies it for investment subsidies in certain countries. Finally, the Xeikon 4000 complies with an extensive list of international regulations such as CE, GS and FCC.
The environment does not stop before or during printing. The printed matter is also guaranteed paper recyclable and the toner materials do not contain harmful chemicals.
