Special applications
Xeikon offers more than CMYK and spot colour toners. The toners listed below open new capabilities in terms of applications:
Security toner
Digital printing in combination with special security toner makes for a complete solution to prevent counterfeiting of the print (entrance tickets, local fancy fair lottery tickets). Xeikon currently offers two types of security toner, which light up when exposed to UV security light when printed on security paper (clear toner and white toner). Digital printing, by definition, allows you to vary the security element for every print.
Clear toner
The clear toner is a transparent toner, which is applied under the CMYK colors. The result is a subtle silk gloss effect when applied under low density screened images or the clear toner can be used to create transparent glossy effects on paper. The addition of UV lighting components makes this toner suitable for certain “security” applications such as entrance cards for parties and exhibitions. The local gloss effect can not be picked up by a scanner, introducing an additional security feature into the printed matter.
White toner
When printing on transparent substrates, white toner is applied as reflecting layer under the coloured toner layers for optimal image quality. Containing an optical brightener that illuminates when exposed to UV light, this toner can also be used to create special effects.
UV curable toner
Most toner systems cannot withstand solvents and temperatures above 65°C. With Xeikon UV curable toner heat and solvent resistance is dramatically improved: images printed with our UV curable toner remain intact even at temperatures as high as 280°C or after rubbing with organic solvents as alcohol or isopropyl alcohol.
MICR toner
MICR stands for magnetic ink character recognition, a character recognition system using special “ink” and characters, which are magnetic and are usually read automatically. Xeikon offers a MICR toner that is suitable for use in particular applications, such as lottery tickets.
To avoid abuse, security toner can be made available to eligible customers only.
