UV Curable

Most toner systems cannot withstand temperatures above 65°C. Remember the pages of that colour manual, stuck together after you left it in the glove box of your car on a sunny summer’s day?

With Xeikon UV curable toner heat resistance is dramatically improved: images printed with our UV curable toner remain intact even at temperatures as high as 280°C!

This opens up a world of possibilities for (food) packaging applications where temperature treatment often imposed limitations on the design of the packaging. Digital printing and UV curable toner is also the perfect tandem for the printing of heat treated blister packaging typically used in the pharmaceutical industry - short run variable data jobs with security features to prevent counterfeiting.

All good things come in threes. Most toner systems are prone to damage by scratching or folding and are easily dissolved by chemical solvents. Also gained with the improved heat resistance is a greatly improved mechanical resistance of the print: UV curable toner makes for a more flexible, less brittle marking system. And UV curable toner printed images will withstand contact with a wide range of chemical solvents, unlike images printed with traditional low molecular weight resin based toner.

Unlike its inktjet or offset-based counterparts, UV curable toner does not contain solvants, volatile substances or low molecular weight components. FDA approval is imminent for the Xeikon UV curable toner.

The Xeikon brand is known for innovation and pioneering.  The UV curable approach of Xeikon has been awarded by the Radtech organization with the innovation award in 2005.  At this moment the system is still under development. If you need more information, please contact us.
